TIDÉ – REFORMATION

20.01.2025 | Past events and exhibitions

As the finissage event of the WASTED exhibition in Sala U.Veruda, on Thursday 30 January at 6 pm Abigaïl Sia arrives in Trieste for a collective live performance in the streets of the city.

Walking to capture the flow of history, walking to reflect on the impact of racial and gender violence on body and mind. With TIDÉ Reformation, walking becomes an act of healing and reconstruction, transforming wounds into strength and silences into visibility.

The performance starts at Sala Veruda at 6pm, in a musical and sensorial immersion, where the artist shares a fragment of TIDÉ’s states of being. A journey through pain, resistance and hope.

Then, the path continues in the streets of Trieste, where its passage interrogates collective narratives.

Wrapped in a plastic second skin, both armour and mirror of social scars, Tidé traces a path of resistance. At the intersection of the intimate and the political, this touching work celebrates the life force of those who walk for human rights.

THE ARTIST

Abigaïl Sia (Paris, 1990), a French-Ivorian and Italian multidisciplinary artist, develops an artistic practice that fuses performance and activism.
Her work focuses on the experience of racialised individuals in a post-colonial society, with a particular interest in invisibility and the consequences of the impact of systemic violence on bodies, psyches and metabolisms, which she addresses through a de-colonial approach.
Her performances also explore the duality of emotional and behavioural states, as well as the transformation of body and mind in response to trauma.
She places ‘embodied resistance’ at the centre of her work.
