Talk con Eric Javier Markowski

05.05.2019 | Past events and exhibitions

Thursday, June the 20th, at 7.00 pm, in the frame of the PUBLIC # INTIMACY exhibition, a talk with the artist Eric Javier Markowski, who has come specially from Argentina for an artist residency.

The artist’s residence is dedicated to the themes of collective and individual memory in connection to the XX century’s conflicts, and, in particular, the work created through the permanence in the territory, wants to suggest the familiar memory as an antidote to the “identity cancellation” operated by totalitarian governments.

In the same century, the artist’s family surpassed two dictatorial regimes: the Mussolini’s one in Italy, and, after the migration to Argentina, the one of Videla, famous for the massacre of the desaparecidos. The complex phenomenon of public violence over the individual and his private sphere, is captured in his multifaceted nature by the contemporary artist’s sensitive eye, which gives us a new vision, made up of erased faces, burnt earth, closed trunks that perhaps, one day, we might find the strength to disclose.

The talk with Eric Markowski will take place in English and Spanish (with simultaneous Italian translation).
To follow, an aperitif for all those present, and a guided tour of the exhibition.

Admission is free, but reservations are required: https://www.eventbrite.it/e/biglietti-aperitivo-con-lartista-eric-markowski-e-visita-guidata-alla-mostra-public-intimacy- 61398726243
