The event has no entry fee
The Centro Culturale San Gaetano of Padua will be the location of the video art event called Video Art Day#War Remembrance that will take place on Saturday, 28th January 2017, from 17pm to 19pm.
The art day – promoted by IoDeposito and part of the B#Side War Festival – consists in the concurrent and outdoor screening of seven videos in different Italian and foreign cities.
Set into places of the everyday life, this event maintains the audience oriented character of the Festival because it wants to draw people near art and near our shared wartime.
Moreover, it will be the occasion to launch the free B#Side War Festival App that will let people book their seats to the Festival exhibitions and other events, moreover it allows the public to download special contents.
“Conflict“ (9’, colours, 2014) is the researcher and artist Victoria Lucas’ work for the event in Padua. According to the artist’s poetics, realizing this video means to start from a single object or place or story to investigate and then create an art work. Here the mud and so the soil becomes a commemorative element, a ‘transitory memorial’ that, on one side, swallows the two soldiers, and establishes a deep connection with the new generations, on the other side. The video stages an imagery full of symbolic gestures related to the Battle of Somme of World War One and to the tragic story of the O’Donahue brothers. Through this imagery the artist questions about the concept of commemoration and its importance nowadays.
In collaboration with Centro Culturale San Gaetano, the Municipality of Padua and Art for The World
B#Side War app was realised with the contribution of Cariplo, Fitzcarraldo, FUnder35 and developed by Neos Logos s.r.l.
