This autumn in the Isonzo area, a series of literary events, presentations and activities for schools on the literature of the Giuliano-Dalmatian exodus

The ‘Still Hours’ project explores the literature of the Giuliano-Dalmatian exodus to offer young people a key to interpreting the 20th century, a century marked by profound political and cultural changes that continue to influence the present.

Through the words of authors such as Fulvio Tomizza and Diego Zandel, universal themes such as identity, conflict, uprooting and respect for the other are tackled, involving boys and girls in activities that encourage reflection on the themes of the twentieth century in an innovative and participatory way: reading groups, literary itineraries, collection of testimonies together with the authors, philosophical walks and much more…

The whole process will culminate in a series of final moments where the results of the project will be presented to families and the community, with the aim of enhancing their commitment and active role in discovering history and building the future.

LITERARY EVENTS AND PRESENTATIONS

FRIDAY 25 OCTOBER 2024 – RONCHI DEI LEGIONARI
Racconti istro-fiumani – Book presentation with the author Diego Zandel

Recently awarded the prestigious ‘Fulvio Tomizza’ prize, Diego Zandel is probably the most important living Istrian-Dalmatian author. Born in a camp for Istrian refugees in 1948, the author is among the most representative of exodus literature, whose historical and personal memories populate his novels, thrillers, short stories and articles.
For the first time, the author will present to the public his new volume ‘Racconti istro-fiumani’, published by B#S Edizioni: perhaps the book where the author’s memory is at its purest, unwinding between reality and fiction, between personal events and fictional suggestions, against the backdrop of History ‘with a capital S’.
A debate with the participating audience is scheduled, followed by a signing of the copies.
The event is open to all, reservations are appreciated at prenotazioni@iodeposito.org
