Colloquio sopra gli studi delle donne – Angelica Ianesi

20.02.2025 | B#S edizioni, Past events and exhibitions

As part of the programme of initiatives promoted by the Udine City Council’s Department for Equal Opportunities on International Women’s Day and the ‘Dialogues in the Library’ review, B#S Edizioni invites you to discover the new annotated edition of Colloquio sopra gli studi delle donne (1774). The work, fundamental for understanding the theory and practice of the querelle des femmes in Friuli and Italy on the threshold of modernity, will be presented on Thursday 6 March at 6 p.m. in the new B#S edition by editor Tancredi Artico and the author of the introduction Valentina Serio at the Joppi Library in Udine.

Printed for the first (and only) time in 1774, the Colloquio is an imaginary dialogue in which three extraordinary female figures – Arete, Vittoria Colonna and Christina of Sweden – confront each other to redefine the concept of female education. The work challenges the prejudices of its time (the subservience to men, the inclination to frivolity) and proposes an educational model based on the Enlightenment values of usefulness of knowledge, freedom and equality between genders.
The new B#S edition, which we are presenting as a preview at the Joppi Library, brings this crucial work back to light and offers the tools to deepen its cultural links, also addressing the still unresolved question of its attribution to Angelica Ianesi.

During the presentation, IoDeposito offers an art workshop for children in the Library with the Comfort Zone educators and art therapists.
An opportunity to combine culture and creativity, allowing families to experience a special moment together.
