Vanessa Gageos (born in 1989 in Bucharest) is a performative media and sound installation artist currently based in Berlin. The course of her studies is divided between Germany and Switzerland: she graduated in Art and Media at the University of the Arts in Berlin, in Music and MediaArt at the Art University Bern and in Space Strategies at the Weißensee Art University in Berlin.

This hybrid background deeply influenced her artistic practice that moves at the boundary between different medias and artistic languages. Vanessa combines natural elements with technological elements and phenomenons in her projects as her artworks represent an attempt to understand dynamics and principles that govern technology, human behavior, nature and society. The artworks are the portraits of the artist’ open questions, philosophical researches and her point of view on particular issues often expressed with ironic manner.

She performed in occasion of important festivals and museums in Berlin: at Transmediale – Festival for Art and Digital Culture Berlin, at the Hamburger Bahnhof , House of World Cultures, The Berliner Festspiele Arts Center; and in other spaces around Europe such as the National Gallery of Art Gdańsk Baltic Sea Culture Centre, the Dampfzentrale Cultural Center Bern and the OSA – Open Source Art Festival in Poland.

One important piece among her artworks, Black Hole, in 2016 was included in B#Side War Festival vol II (2015/2016 edition) and infact Vanessa exhibited in the group show Physis and Tékhne at the Galleria della Società Cormonese Austria in Cormons (IT) and she was part of the Video Art Nights Kinds of Memory at Molino Stucky Palace and Female Video Artists and The War Contemporary Legacies Of The ‘900 Wars And The Role Of Women In Preserving The Common Memory in Venice at Zattere Cultural Flow Zone.
